Did you know Al Franken is pro 2A?

Yea right! At Game Fair, (a great hunting and hunting dog event here in MN each year) I stopped at his booth to ask a few questions. They showed me a written statement from Al stating that he supports the 2A. The person then asked me what I thought about that. Remember Franken is a writer, he knows just like a lawyer, how to play with words. I replied it sounds pretty good on the surface but I have one question. That question is what does Al think the 2A means? Does it guarantee an individual’s right to carry a gun and defend themselves with a gun? Saying you agree with the 2A means nothing if you think that government can register your guns and regulate when and where and even if you can carry for self-defense. It means nothing if you think the 2A is all about hunting. After all even D.C. said you could have a gun. It just had to be registered which they Weren't’t going to allow you to do, and it had to be rendered useless if they did allow you to have one. Not exactly my interpretation of what the 2A really means. Guys like Franken will out and out lie to make you think that they are on your side. They were selling T-shirts that had D.O.G. on them. It stood for Democrats Own Guns which of course some do. I have no argument there but just owning a gun does not make you an advocate for nor does it mean you understand the 2A and what it means. On the tent wall were a couple replica handguns and a couple rifles. Sorry Al, I just don't buy it. What a crock!

Hard to believe but this person did not’t have an answer to my initial question.

Right. Obama stated that he supports the Second Amendment, too.

The individual right to keep arms, to bear arms. Aint' nothin' in there about privilege, about governmental whim, about which guns can or cannot be owned or carried. It's about all lawful uses to which defensive firearms can be put, including: hunting, defense against individuals or multiple people who would seek to take all we have (whether affiliated with the "overlords" or not). Franken doesn't see it? He's a threat and a danger, then, insofar as proper respect for the 2A is concerned.

There are truling some very conservative Democrats. There are some very good dems on the 2A. Al Franken doesn't strike me as one. Harry Reid is very pro-2A (he's from NV). Udall states on his web site that he is pro 2A and talks about opening rifle ranges, etc with public funds in CO. However, the NRA gives him an F on previous voting record, Hmm something is out os sorts!!!

You'll be able to tell the true 2A guys from the ones who just support it at home to get elected. See how many will support Congressional action in DC to override the city's refusal to abide by the SCOTUS decision.

I like Al Franken. His books are great. The verdict is still out on his practical 2A stance, since he has no legislative voting record. Of course, that's up for the good folks of Minnesota to decide.

I have never liked his humor even when I didn't know his politics. His show on Air America was pathetic. I actually would listen about once a week when it was on. If you listen carefully to what his adds actually say you soon realize, they say nothing. He's just one more lib that wants my money and my rights as far as I am concerned.

As a MN resident, all I gotta say is I sure hope Franken doesn't get his big mouth and colossal ego into our state politics. He moved here from CA so he can carpet-bag his San Francisco politics into MN.

Look - I know, you know, and the town fool knows he's going to try to "repeal conceal", close the "gunshow loophole", call for higher 'punitive' ammo taxes, and a restoration of an even more restrictive "scary looking gun ban".

    We need none of that.

I'm with you on this one, Joe; Al Franken is just another liberal hack trying to cash in on the bush bashing brigade. He is my younger brother's hero, often sending me his crappy articles on how conservative talk radio hosts are full of it and the liberals are the real intellectuals out to save the world.

In the free market world, as I often remind my brother, Al Franken is a complete failure; evidently more folks want to hear what Rush, Glenn and Sean have to say.

I read where he had a scheduled rally last week and 1 person showed up. Sounds like he has a support problem.

Al Franken is a socialist scum bag plain and simple. I have read and listened to some of his "views" and they make me sick.

I saw an article where he held a Veterans concerns conference last week and one, 1, yes, that's right, only one single person showed up. This was not a last minute thing, it was scheduled well in advance and publicized so the public knew about it.

    One guy showed up.
Yeah, Al Franken, the people are just clamoring for this guy. What an idiot.

Wow we are allowed to talk about Al Franken, granted he is an idiot, but I seem to have gotten my thread shut down in a new york minute when I tryed to have a political thread!

I think it was initially okay because the subject was related to his 2A stance, particularly since he's a new aspirant to the Senate.

It's posts like the "socialist scumbag" bovine excrement that will get the thread shut down, because it's straying from the 2A discussion.
