Smile Sarah Palin on guns/AWB - Gibson Interview

ABC News: Excerpts: Charlie Gibson Interviews GOP Vice Presidential Candidate Sarah Palin

GIBSON: Guns, 70 percent of this country supports a ban on semiautomatic assault weapons. Do you?

PALIN: I do not and, you know, here again, life being an open book here, as a candidate, I'm a lifetime member of the NRA. I believe strongly in our Second Amendment rights. That's kind of inherent in the people of my state who rely on guns for not just self-protection, but also for our hunting and for sports, also. It's a part of a culture here in Alaska. I've just grown up with that.

GIBSON: Isn't gun violence in America a health issue? We spend billions of dollars a year every year treating people who are victims of gun violence. Nothing we can do about that?

PALIN: Do I think that all of that gun violence, though, is caused by people pulling a trigger who would have followed any law anyway? No. You start banning guns and you start taking away guns from people who will use them responsibly and use them ethically.

You put more and more laws on guns and you start taking away a Second Amendment right, it's going to be, Charlie, the bad guys who have the guns, not those who are law-abiding citizens.
    Good job Sarah

70% of Americans? c'mon Charlie...i am amazed you can keep a straight faces while lying like that.

Way to go VP Palin! Have I mentioned lately that I think I'm in love?

I do have one concern, how dare she use logic,
You start banning guns and you start taking away guns from people who will use them responsibly and use them ethically.
doesn't she know that won't work with Gibson's audience?

Gibson's audience is the foaming at the mouth, angry America haters....but i am sure that her interview garnered a lot of conservative viewers who actually like guns and America.

Only 32% of the time, the other 70% they are usually somewhat accurate.

No agenda in my comment. Statistics can be used to prove or disprove anything and usually it's not the numbers you need to look at, but the context of the words around the number.

Ex: 100% of my vehicles are on the road. I didn't tell you that 1 out of 4 currently has a dead set of batteries and doesn't run. Yet what I stated is true as it is parked on the street.

I guess it just irks me when people through statistics out as fact, when it's more the words you need to read then the numbers.

For the same reason I rarely look at the political poll results. It varies based on who is asking the questions and who they are calling, etc.

i agree... the media always screws it up and try to use stats and polls to their advantage. look at the exit polling in 2004. totally wrong.
