New Secretary of State and the 2A.

I just heard on the news (FOX35 Richmond) that Hillary Clinton is being considered the Secretary of State (U.S. Department of State, one of the few defined and authorized Departments mentioned in the COTUS).
This could very well have severe ramifications for the 2A as the Secretary of State is the direct link to the United Nations. This is an important cabinet position when considering diplomacy, treaties, foreign relations, and their effect on all of us. The president elect must be convinced to choose a better candidate to head such an important office; preferably one that actually values liberty.
All ambassadors operate under the guidance and direction of the Secretary; as does the US Ambassador to the UN.

I am sorry if this post is border line political, but when you are dealing with a position that can directly effect how foreign governments and agreements dictate how we exercise our rights I'll take one for the team to get the information out.

I doubt a secretary of state would be involved in 2A issues. Let her try to outlaw open carry in Lebanon or Afghanistan ;-)

Yeah maybe he'll chose Chuck Schumer or Diane Feinstein instead. I'm not really that worried about any deal made with the UN. The UN cannot over ride the Constitution. As liberal as most of those in congress are. I don't think they would stand by and see our sovereignty handed over to an outside power.

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
Hmm. It doesn't say anything in there about 'shall not be infringed except by treaties'.

And honestly...I am not worried about the UN.

The one constant you can bet on when it comes to any government is that the people in power will do everything possible to keep it.

Giving authority to the UN would be giving up power that they already have...nobody ever does this.

You need to read up. We've been doing it bit by bit for years, not so much as to take a whole lot of notice.

Now that the government has been taken over by socialists, or will soon be,that crawl towards the United Nations has become a run.

They might make agreements that they agree with to try to give their views more weight, but they are not about to fully cede sovereignty.

    Oh really?

How long do you think it will be before the "World Court" has legal standing here in the United States?

How long for a common currency?

How long will it be before the EPA is enforcing enviornmental issues that are mandated by the U.N. ?

    It would not be Constitutional.

    Has anyone even proposed this?

Only as long as Congress agrees...which is really my whole point.

    Thats right.

As far as being Constitutional, all they would have to do is agree to abide by a "treaty". Ever notice how the U.N. tends to says things like "Treaty" for this or "Treaty" for that? It is not by accident.

With the folks that we soon will see running this government, time will tell the truth.

If you think that signing over sovereignty would ever fly with more than 15%-20% of voters then you are the one who is off

Heck, people only voted for Obama because he claimed to support "a tax cut for 95% of Americans". It only works if you don't tell them what you're really going to do, and then if you go in the opposite direction you are not getting re-elected.

And yet...Europe has done just that, surrounding sovereign authority to a bunch of anonymous bureaucrats in Brussels...

The UN has pushed a worldwide handgun ban treaty. We are about to get an administration that desperately wants to be seen as sophisticated and legitimate in the eyes of everybody except conservative Americans. They will bend over backwards to play nice with the U.N. and Europe.

While I don't think it is very likely that even this incoming administration and Congree would sign on to the U.N. treaty, I don't think it is utterly inconceivable, either.

And this worries me the most. I have no clue what to expect. Even if I knew the worst was coming I could prepare for it.

I too fear the worst but hope/pray for the best. I don't see the UN taking over this country any time soon but I do see us handing portions of it over a piece at a time, slowly so we (American population) don't notice it as much, or at least those who do notice it are the minority.

Not sure if this is true or not, but heard a rumor that there was an agenda to push Canada, The U.S., and South America to combine currency into the "AMERO". I heard this a few years back Clinton Admin timeframe.

Like I said not sure how true it is, but if it did happen, would it be a far stretch for the new Commissar to push it??
