    Gun control history

Some of you may have seen this....

    A LITTLE GUN HISTORY

In 1929, the Soviet Union established gun control. From 1929 to 1953, about 20 million dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
    ------------------------------
1911, Turkey established gun control. From 1915 to 1917, 1.5 million Armenians,
unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
    ------------------------------
Germany established gun control in 1938 and from 1939 to 1945, a total of 13 million Jews
and others who were unable to defend themselves were rounded up and exterminated.
    ------------------------------
China established gun control in 1935. From 1948 to 1952, 20 million political
dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated
    ------------------------------
Guatemala established gun control in 1964. From 1964 to 1981, 100,000 Mayan
Indians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
    ------------------------------
Uganda established gun control in 1970. From 1971 to 1979, 300,000 Christians,
unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
    ------------------------------
Cambodia established gun control in 1956. From 1975 to 1977, one million 'educated'
people, unable to defend them selves, were rounded up and exterminated.
    ----------------------------
Defenseless people rounded up and exterminated in the 20th Century because of gun
    control: 56 million.
    ------------------------------
    Australia .....NOW
It has now been 12 months since gun owners in Australia were forced by new law to
surrender 640,381 personal firearms to be destroyed by their own government, a
program costing Australia taxpayers more than $500 million dollars.

The first year results are now in:

    List of 7 items:

Australia-wide, homicides are up 3.2 percent

Australia-wide, assaults are up 8.6 percent

Australia-wide, armed robberies are up 44 percent (yes, 44 percent)!

In the state of Victoria alone, homicides with firearms are now up 300 percent.

Note that while the law-abiding citizens turned them in, the criminals did not, and criminals still possess their guns!

While figures over the previous 25 years showed a steady decrease in armed robbery
with firearms, this has changed drastically upward in the past 12 months, since criminals
now are guaranteed that their prey is unarmed.

There has also been a dramatic increase in break-ins and assaults of the ELDERLY.. ———

    HEY!

Australian politicians are at a loss to explain how public safety has decreased, after such monumental effort and expense was expended in successfully ridding Australian society
of guns. The Australian experience and the other historical facts above prove it.

You won't see this data on the US evening news, or hear politicians disseminating this information.

Guns in the hands of honest citizens save lives and property and, yes, gun-control laws adversely affect only the law-abiding citizens.

Take note my fellow Americans, before it's too late!

The next time someone talks in favor of gun control, please remind them of this history
    lesson.

With guns, we are'citizens'. Without them, we are 'subjects'.

I will make exceptions to the communist party because they have killed more their own party people or supporters since the party was founded. Of couse that was done regardless armed or not.

This can be traced back to Soviet, Chinese and Cuba etc. .............

If they are killing their own, I would leave them alone.

While I agree with the basic premise, I have to comment. All of those people weren't killed BECAUSE of gun control (though it's true they had no ability to defend their freedom), they were killed by despotic rulers who engaged in a long series of "control" measures. Gun control is always a tool to control the populace when you are trying to maintain force over a nation. You can do it without gun control, since you by definition have to control the military, but it's just easier if the populace is disarmed.

Most of those people would have perished without gun control, but the possession of firearms may have saved many.

Beware of measures that aren't gun control, but in the same philosophy, like nationalized health care, increased taxation, increased regulation, etc. Once those things are in place, gun control is one of the next steps, and then we are off to the socialist totalitarian races.

I appreciate the repost. I have not seen this and find it interesting. Sometimes the specfic search of one is not on the mind of another. By reposting an old post, it puts it into the minds of others so they too may be enlighted in the discussion.

Not me...I agree with CC. This has been vetted a number of times. At best...it is misleading, at worst...it is junk email. Wait, wait...its both.

It attempts to tie gun control to genocide...which ignores historical facts and makes a ludicrous connection that gun control caused the genocide. Then throws in the Australia bit for good measure (which was the real purpose of the email)...which wants you to believe that Australia gun control is the root cause of their crime increase...another distortion. See snopes or search.

Sad part is there are people that want to believe this and attempt to use it as an argument. One can drive large holes through these distortions.

In addition to multiple re-postings on our forum, this has been posted on every gun forum on the Internet, at one time or another.

We don't have access to unlimited bandwidth. That's why we discourage multiple re-postings of the same topic.

I did not say I agreed with it! I like to stay informed on the information both sides of an argument will use. Learned that in debate school in college. Be prepared in all the arguments the other side will use.

As for bandwidth, I understand that and expected you would respond in this manner. Just the same, I am glad it was done because I had not seen it before. I am new to this forum and use it as a vast learning experience. Most of the members have been patient and very informative, though I have had some negative attacks by two individuals. Anyway, that is not bad considering the numbers of individuals on here.

Maybe MERGE and DELETE is the answer with a polite letter to OP.

IMO the complete accurate statement is. "They had no ability to defend their freedom or lives because gun control disarmed them and made them defenseless against their killers, So of course they died because of gun control Gun Control made it impossible for them to defend their lives and live.

You can deny, with good facts, that gun control was not the primary reason those atrocities occurred, and I cannot deny it. But, can you deny that without gun control, those people would have still lost their lives?

Maybe so, but at least they would not have been lead to slaughter like sheep. They would have at least been able to fight back.

What is it to survive? A mouse lives, a fly lives. One flees in terror, the other lives in filth. They are, they survive, but do they live?
There are two sides to every issue: one side is right and the other is wrong, but the middle is always evil.
