Actually, it doesn't have much to do with liberalism, it has to do with those in power fearing those with weapons, that can be liberalism, conservatism, dictatorships and the host of other names we could label those folks.

When they banned firearms over there I'm certain that many of the firearms that were destroyed were ours anyway.

You might be right there... However our museums do keep all firearms on display in full working order (yes we are talking full auto too)
Having visited a number of museums in the US, I noticed that a number of firearms had a large chunk cut out of the barrel to stop them ever working again.
Is this normal practice??

I wish I could be sympathetic to their plight. I just cannot. Why? Because they arent fighting to regain those rights.

Why dont they fight? Im guessing their arms are not that important to them or they would fight for them or better yet, not lost em in the first place.

The way I see it, there are several (peaceful) ways to fight for the preservation of access to our rights. Remember, the right to life (and protection of same) is God given and inalienable. They can take away the ability to exercise it, but cannot take away the right!

1. If you've got enough guns for now, invest your money in people who have some clout, the NRA, the GOA and the JFPO. Of late, there has been record gun sales and record permit and license applications. Now we have to make sure they all take part in record membership in organizations that will fight for us. If you have family, friends and business associates living in foreign countries, there is nothing I know of to prevent them from showing support by joining these organizations as well.
2. Educate your family, friends and acquaintances to the facts about guns and "gun control". Expose the lies and deceit of the anti's.
3. Let your elected officials know how you feel. In two years many of them will be up for re-election. Go to the GOA site and see what their record is on gun control and vote accordingly.
4. Try to get factual editorials into your local papers.
5. Become involved in grass roots organizations interested in restoring the Constitution.

Yesterday, I did not listen to anything inaugural on TV or radio. I just could not. I'm slow at work and was perusing the NRA site and found Glen Beck's recent speech at the NRA. My God it was inspiring! As I listened, I thought about how millions must be listening to the new messiah and feeling inspired. We have a long hard battle ahead. This is not the time to sit around and complain. The best defense is a strong offense. The sheep are being slowly and carefully lead to the slaughter house. O-bahhhhhhh-ma O-bahhhhhhh-ma.

One of our GunsAmerica insider people sent us a link to this Youtube video about the failed gun ban in England.
If you don't know the history, England banned all legal ownership of handguns many years ago with very little resistance from its people. It was thought to be a good measure to bring down gun crime. The result has been double digit increases in gun crime every year since the ban. Since then the country has taken away many more freedoms, to hunt, to defend oneself from harm, and finally its citizens are speaking up.
Many of us who put time into defending gun freedom are ridiculed that the loss of gun freedom can never happen here because of the second amendment, yet we have seen throughout the history of the US that lawmakers eager to protect their own power will readily pass laws in violation of the second amendment. To this day, even after the Heller case, Chicago is fighting an NRA lawsuit to protect their own unconstitutional handgun ban.
If it were not for YOU, the American gun owning public, who so cling to freedom and defend any affront to it, we would end up much like England, whose citizens are now reeling in the face of ridiculous violent crime rates and a government that does not represent their interests.
Forward this to your friends. I have not seen anything this powerful in a long time and it should "go viral" as it is called to anyone in America who questions those who fight for firearms freedom now, before we lose it.
