That's amazing. This really targets taking guns away from the poor then right? The people who predominently live in poor and high crime areas? If you can't afford the insurance policy then you aren't allowed to defend yourself.

That's how I read it, wonder what the premium per month would be for $1,000,000 liability policy

To be honest, I don't even know what my liability is on my homeowners. I believe it is near that amount for medical expenses but probably not for civil litagation.

I do believe that, other than Washinton, D.C. , Illinois has the most corrupt bunch of politicians in the country. Does a BG burgling a home, or robbing some body at gun point, or raping someone, or car-jacking someone, have to have liability insurance? The answer is absolutly NOT! The BG doesn't even have to be in possession of a F.O.I.D. card!

The jackasses that keep comeing up with this kind of crap need to voted out of office! ILLINOIS, among others, WAKE UP!

Why don't they just pass bill that says only two organizations will bear arms in this state. The police and gangs no one else! Also why not make people who drink alcohol and/or drive carry 1,000,00 too. Glad I live in a gun friendly state

Do you all see the game here? They aren't going to go after guns and ban them, or make ammo scarce and expensive.

They want to make act of owning a gun for self defense so difficult, expensive and bureaucratic, that the average person just gives up.

It's worked pretty well in Europe.

This is how they will try to "ban" guns. They know they can't win a head on fight so they'll try some backdoor scheme.

Would not the supreme court rule that this bill would be along the same as the heller case. Also I would think a law that puts unreasonable demands to comply with the law would be struck down.
In fact the marijuana tax stamp is a prime example and ruled illeagal by the supreme court. You cannot attempt to control something legal by pricing (or refusing to issue a tax stamp, think insurance here). I am sure if you went to state farms insurance and wanted a million dollar policy because of and specifically for your gun in case of a civil suit etc etc...that they would say no or charge you 2 million bucks for it. Same reasoning as the tax stamp. Pot was legal but you had to have a tax stamp, but they refused to issue tax stamps hence the court decision.
