The Right to Keep and Bear Arms Shall Not Be Infringed (except by a bunch of laws and all the states)
    Slavery is gone.

D.C. is represented by the entire country (described very well in the Federalist Papers, actually).

The third point has been hashed over often enough that it's not worth addressing here.

The District can not have a representation without an amendment to the Constitution. I started making a list of all the unConstitutional thing that have been going on in Washington, and am now being treated for severe writers-cramp.

Negative, Ghostrider! If you're lucky, we'll let Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming join us here in our new nation south of the Mason Dixon line and East 'o the Mighty Mississippi.

It would be a tough call, overall. We'd like to take Texas (not sure if they'd join anyone...likely stay independent), and I'm sure Nebraska, Oklahoma, parts of Kansas & Mizzou, and the Dakotas would want to come with us. Sorry, southern Illinois, you're out. Ditto MD and western PA. You'd have to do some serious realigning of state borders for us to let you in. Hard choice, but AZ's out, too. UT might make it.

Maybe we could create a corridor from TX through the midwest to link up with Idaho. It would cause CA and MA fits to be split up like that, but that's the breaks. VT and NH would be independent states, I think.
