Mexico blames US on gun deaths

    And what was our response? U.S. Attorney General, Eric Holder, made the following statement;

“There are just a few, um, gun related changes, um, that we would like to make and among them would be to, um, reinstitute the ban on the sale of assault weapons. I think that will have a positive impact in Mexico.”

Yep.... and catching the mice, will get rid of all cats.

Do any of us believe any of this stuff ??

Mexico .... hasn't cared about the drug smuggling and illegals crossing the border.... and now the SHTF....

Drug cartel's have a lot of resources for obtaining weapons, and banning anything in the USA won't stop anything ..... so we punish American's for Mexico's issues ?

One report said the major source of weapons for the drug cartel's in Mexico is the Mexican Army, easier than getting them across the border.

Yeah, Claderon's reasoning was that 90% of weapons come from the U.S. Well, if you're talking about non-AK models, that's true since they are MANUFACTURED in the US! One way or another they came from the US, he failed to mention that they came by way of HIS military or thieves that stole the weapons from their rightful owners.

I don't care what happens in Mexico: that's their business. Nor do I think we law-abiding citizens of the USA are in any way responsible for what criminals on either side of the border do. It's already illegal to smuggle weapons to Mexico, so more laws will have no effect on criminal activity.

Mexico should blame its criminals and crime culture (gangs, narco business and corrupted law enforcement). Without it, none of the "corrupted" would have such an insatiable desire for firearms, irrespective of where they're obtained.

I'm very sure ther are guns crossing the boarder from the US into Mexico. I'm also as sure, having seen no facts, that there are plenty of ways to aquire firearms. I'm also sure that the vast majority of those gun deaths you could blame on guns from the US, were aquired illegally. However, this is all opinion. There is a possibility that US troups at some point could get involved. So if something is going on, US and Mexican government should look into this. So if the U.S. Attorney General has facts, then maybe, with the situation as it is in Mexico, the US should ban, or limit, the sale of assault weapons in some way, to Mexican citizens (assuming they don't already...sorry Mexican citizens, if facts support the statement, then it would be appropriate). If there are no facts, I hope some pro-gun supportors call him on it, and demand the U.S. Attorney General should reveive an official censured on the issue.

If Mexico would like to blame the US for drug related firearm casualties, I would think the strongest argument would be to point the finger at the US demand for the drugs.

We should adopt Mexicos gun laws. they are working so well there. "Mexico has strict gun laws. Mexican citizens may purchase arms for self-protection or hunting only after receiving approval of a petition to the Defense Ministry, which performs extensive background checks. The allowed weapons are restricted to relatively low-caliber and must be purchased from the Defense Ministry only."
"I cannot undertake to lay my finger on that article of the Constitution, which granted a right to Congress of expending, on objects of benevolence, the money of their constituents." -1792, James Madison

Here's an idea for the Mexican government, SECURE THE BORDER!!

That corrupt pile of turd on our southern border will allow drug runners, criminals and illegals free passage over their border and into our country but then have the nerve to whine about U.S. guns supposedly flowing south- [Edited] them.

I agree with Bruce Gibson. Of Course...EVERYTHING is our fault no matter what the problem is. Every country in the world knows that.
We are to blame for all of the problems on the planet.
    Some How....Some Way...it's our fault.

I love how they claim that the automatic weapons used against the federal police on that side of the border are bought and shipped over from the U.S. - how many gun stores do you know that have machineguns on the racks? Never seen one myself, but that is what they are implying.

    I'll second that motion.
