Boston Looks To Ammunition Restrictions
Boston Globe
Boston is considering new "anticrime tools" that include limiting ammunition sales, recording who buys ammunition, and using a new technology that transfers a gun's serial number onto a bullet`s shell casing any time the gun is fired.

I would assume they could inscribe the serial no. on the inside of the chamber so when the shell is fired and expanded the number is embedded, almost invisible into the case.
but so what?
so they can find out who the gun was stolen from and it was used in a crime?
i don't see any of my guns being brought in for this.
ummmm... they all got stolen last week!! sorry

I doubt anyone with any sense at all really thinks this "project" will do any real good. And the more expensive it is, the better.
Sooner or later, the proponents will say, "It won't work, it's too expensive, so the best way to solve the problem is to simply get rid of all the guns.
The obvious problem with that is they'd only disarm the law-abiding, leaving the criminal element well armed.
Idiots, well-intentioned or not, idiots just the same.

Of course if such idiocy were to make it the statute books - it would also be another (for 'them') useful deterrant to reduce even legit' gun purchases - implementation of such craziness would by default jack up gun prices!
My head aches from constant side to side shaking, as I read such things and wonder - at the cost prohibitive stupidity.

The serial number on the cartridge thing was proposed in California, of course.
