    Kentuckians legal carry on trails.

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) -- Kentuckians would be able to carry guns through the woods even when they're not hunting under a measure that has cleared the House.

Democratic state Rep. Bob Damron of Nicholasville sponsored the measure intended to allow hikers and others to protect themselves from animals or criminals they encounter.

The measure passed the House by a vote of 93-5 Wednesday afternoon.

The issue was raised because of the state's growing black bear population. Some outdoor enthusiasts said they would feel safer in the woods if they were permitted to carry guns. Damron said people with permits to carry concealed weapons already could do that. His legislation spells out that those who don't hold such permits still have the constitutional privilege to openly carry guns.

Yeah I don't really understand this bill. I've read something on it and it really doesn't say where you would be able to carry that you couldn't carry before. Open carry is legal in Ky. The bill that just passed last week is about hunting.
Not sure what this one is, but I'll take it.
Prepare for the worst and hope it never happens

Just a though. In SC carrying in your vehicle was allowed if you had a cwp. but leo were harassing cwp holders for carrying in there vehicle. so instead of retraining the officers the legislature decided to make a law allowing cwp holders to carry. now there is a bill that would allow for open carrying without a license and to do that they needed to move a lot of the regulations around. they did not move the part of the law that allows cwp holders to carry in their car and according to grassroots the courts will say that that means that cwp holders are no longer allowed to carry in there vehicles (even though there is still no law against it nor a punishment defined for it). my word of warning is that it may come back to bite you and just cause for longer laws and more confusion.

edit: just noticed that it has already passed but still a valid point on things like this.
