Outstanding is what I have to say. I was raised in a home where guns were considered "evil", weren't even allowed squirt guns. I realized by the time I was about 14 (when I was sent to military school) that the idea guns are evil is craziness. Kudos on the essay to your daughter. If I have a kid I hope I can raise them as good as you have.

Nicely phrased. Your daughter has insight into the problem that few adults do. She's well on her way to being a thinking person who has successfully avoided the brainwashing. Excellent!

I can see it now ...

Your daughter's about to be seen as a menace, a powder keg, a future threat that has just poked her head above the sand for all to see. THAT is what's wrong with schools, today: people like her, who can't even see that guns are bad, and that people who would accept them in our midst are a threat. For her insolence and refusal to be an unthinking, brainwashed pawn, she's to be ... er ... considered for suspension or expulsion at the next committee meeting.

I see your daughter has a good head on her shoulders. Kudos to you and your wide for raising your daughter. She gives me hope for the future generations. We could use a person like her in the White House.

You got a sharpe little girl there. I hope you are buying her a gun for each birthday so that when it comes time to leave the nest; she has a nice collection.

Your daughter has a great head on her shoulders. Kudo's to you and your wife. Heck, I am proud of her and I don't even know her.

    A side note.....

My son (11 years old) wanted to do his science project this year on Archery. His question was "Which arrow type is more accurate and has the most velocity, carbon or aluminum?". I thought this would be a great project. Unfortunately his teacher refused it citing the idea has no scientific merit and weapons are not allowed.

Thanks for all of the positive feedback. I too wish I could write like her.

bbernard - It is crazy when they can't even admit it has scientific merit but we are too scared to let him bring arrows to school. Seems he could have done the project and presented his hypothesis and his results. Anytime we can get our kids interested in physics it's a good thing. There are a lot of project which are acceptable that require adult supervision due to the inherent danger. Heck Archery was part of school when I went.

Thanks again for the kind remarks. The wide and daughter have been watching them and loving them.

I'd ask the teacher if his/her last IQ test had any scientific merit.
