Every time I read about this ruling based upon an environmental impact...what impact(?)...carrying a gun into a forest?
We should be able get rid of judges who make up laws to rule upon?
The last Blood Moon Tetrad for this millennium starts in April 2014 and ends in September 2015...according to NASA.

We can recall any one of them that has been elected. As for the appointed (annointed?) ones, I don't know. But, leaving 'em there is tearing things apart.

As a federal judge she serves in that position until she dies, resigns or is impeached.

If anyone knows where to find a link to the appeal, I'd sure like to read it. The article says nothing about the NRA's position in the appeal.
"Run for your life from the man who tells you that money is evil. That sentence is the leper's bell of an approaching looter. So long as men live together on earth and need means to deal with one another-their only substitute, if they abandon money, is the muzzle of a gun."

No real details but here is the NRA version.

NRA-ILA :: Concealed Carry in National Parks Suspended -- NRA Files Motion To Appeal

On Thursday, March 19, a federal district court in Washington, D.C. granted anti-gun plaintiffs a preliminary injunction against implementation of the new rule allowing law-abiding citizens to defend themselves by carrying a concealed firearm in national parks and wildlife refuges.

In Thursday's ruling, Federal District Court Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly issued the preliminary injunction against the Department of the Interior rule that took effect on January 9, 2009. The revised rule allowed individuals to carry concealed firearms for self-defense in national parks and national wildlife refuges located in states that allow the carrying of concealed firearms.

Today, NRA filed a notice of appeal in Federal District Court to oppose the preliminary injunction.

NRA-ILA Executive Director Chris W. Cox, said, "NRA is moving aggressively to protect this common sense rule and that's why we filed this notice of appeal today. Just as we did not give up the fight to change the old, outdated rule, we will not give up our fight in the courts to defend the rule change. We will pursue every legal avenue to defend the American people's right of self-defense."

Until further notice, individuals cannot legally carry loaded, concealed firearms for personal protection in national parks and wildlife refuges.

Maybe one of the real lawyers here can answer my question.

How in the world does the NRA have any standing to appeal anything in this case?

As I understand it, the suit was against DOI, not against the NRA.

And NRA certainly doesn't even represent in a legal sense, the concealed carry community as a whole---DC would come closer in that regard frankly.

Sounds like PR and wishful thinking to me rather than a serious appeal, but I'm willing (and happy) to be informed why I am not correct.

    Do you believe?

The Obama administration had said it was reviewing the Bush rule but had defended it in court. A spokeswoman for Interior Secretary Ken Salazar says the department is reviewing its options.
Does any really believe they "defended" it as vigorously as possible?

NRA intervenes in National Park carry

NRA-ILA :: Court Suspends Carry in National Parks

Today, a federal district court in Washington, D.C. granted anti-gun plaintiffs a preliminary injunction against implementation of the new rule allowing concealed carry in national parks and national wildlife refuges.

Until further notice, individuals cannot legally carry loaded, concealed firearms for personal protection in national parks and wildlife refuges.

The court did grant NRA's motion to intervene in the cases. Under federal law, NRA is entitled to an immediate appeal, and NRA will exercise that right.

"Just as we did not give up the fight to change the old, outdated rule, we will not give up our fight in the courts to defend the rule change," said NRA chief lobbyist Chris W. Cox. "We will pursue every legal avenue to defend the American people's right to self-defense."

I don't think they do have any real standing. From what BlackPR said, the judge hinted in her ruling that the Brady's didn't really have any legal standing in the case either but the DOI didn't challenge it. Do you suppose Brady can't challenge the NRA's standing without bringing into question their own position in the case?

P.S. I know you asked the 'real lawyers' and we've already established I'm not.
