I haven't read the entire article yet, but the underlying problem they are addressing is "guns, guns guns," when the real problem is violence in general, if that population is so inclined. Given a gun in the center of the room might lead to gun violence, but given the same population in a room the scene would still end with violence, whether by fist, knife, club, whatever.

Unrealistic views and expectations by those in power is the actual problem we face, but we all know that already.

You're talking about stare decisis, and your point is generally correct, however, the weight it gets in a decision is always a matter of convenience. If there were enough libs on the court, they would overturn Heller the first chance they got.

Even if they did try to whittle the 2A down to nothing, remember, the Constitution can be amended, and the 2A could be re-written to overturn a SCOTUS decision.
I highly doubt we'll ever see another amendment that has to do arms unless it is one that restricts gun ownership. It's just not going to happen because the anti-gun lobby is too strong and actually passing a constitutional amendment is VERY difficult. The good thing is that the NRA is also strong, and the two organizations seem to stalemate each other more often than not.
