BTW, voted and was pleasantly surprised at the results.

As an aside, I attended a breakfast meeting with my State Senator and several other elected officials regarding the Ohio State Budget and it's affect on Extensions and 4-H. Our county Sheriff was there. He and I know each other, but not really well. He asked me if I were carrying. I asked him if that was an official inquiry and and if not, why would he want to know. He said (in a joking manner) that it was nice to have some watching his six just in case. I told him in the same joking manner that I could neither confirm nor deny my status, but that if something broke out, I'd be a hell of a witness. He then said that he remembered signing my renewal a few months ago, and that he hoped it was not a wasted signature. I assured him that it was not.
I agree that better enforcement of the laws is crucial, and not allowing criminals to plea to lesser charges would be a good change too. But I believe that harsher penalties for the convicted criminals may help because if the BGs know that they will serve long, hard time and not plea down, it may deter a few.
The current system obviously doesn't work, so how could harsher penalties/sentances hurt?

Done, and I too am a bit surprised at the results being so in our favor. I've also noticed that in the blogs of some papers running the stories of the recent violence that many pro gun people are posting their feelings. In some cases I've seen more than 50-60% in our favor. And this in papers from places like San Fran.

Could it be people are learning that gun laws are not working? Dare to dream
