Tennessee Senate OKs change in gun laws
Article from: WBIR.com | Knoxville, TN | Update: Tennessee Senate OKs change in gun laws
"The Senate has voted to allow people with carry permits to bring their handguns into all state and local parks in Tennessee.
The chamber also approved a measure to allow permit holders to transport ammunition alongside rifles or shotguns inside their vehicles.
The parks measure sponsored by Republican Senate Judiciary Chairwoman Mae Beavers of Mt. Juliet passed on a 24-8 vote.
The bill would allow permit holders to carry handguns in all local parks, unless local governments specifically vote to ban them.
Under a previous version passed by the House, local governments would have to vote specifically to allow handguns to be carried in parks.
The guns in cars bill passed unanimously.
The two chambers would have to work out the differences on both bills before the governor could consider them."
I apologize if this is posted elsewhere.

Ditto. SO glad I live in a State that usually comes down on the side of individual liberty and State's rights vs. the Fednanny. Many of the battles are still hard fought, but the wins are still sweet.

This is good news.
So this means schools, courtrooms and fed. buildings, and posted places are the only off limits places in TN. Am i correct in thinking this? I know the resturant law isnt in effect yet but its going to be.

More good news! The House agreed last night to concur with the Senate amendments that were added on both bills-concealed carry in state and local parks and the bill that allows rifles and shotguns to be transported with ammo so long as a round is not chambered.

Very cool. As someone who lives an hour from Clarksville and about 2 from Nashville, I'm in TN several times a year. Good information to know. Thanks for posting.

If loose gun laws are good for criminals why do criminals support gun control?

Hey guys this is a victory, but look at it closely. The municipality or county operating the park can vote locally that it be a non-carry area. I am sure that Shelby County being as liberal as they are will quickly vote parks in this area to be no carry areas.
The best preventative medicine is superior fire power.

Always good to hear about things like this after being gone all week.
