    VA HB1577 passed!

VA HB1577 passed! There were some floor amendments introduced, yesterday, and its effect is still contingent on the budget, next year, but it is a significant move forward for CCW. A floor amendment reinstated allowing localities to require fingerprinting by ordinance for the CCW background check. BUT, the CCW permit no longer has an expiration date. So, for resident permits, VA will be a shall-issue state without expiration.

    Woooooooooooooooooooooooooooo Hoooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

    Cue the
"fundamental principle of American law that a government and its agents are under no general duty to provide public services, such as police protection, to any individual citizen." [Warren v. District of Columbia,(D.C. Ct. of Ap., 1981)]
If I have to explain it, you wouldn't understand

Another heartening move even with its restrictions - it has at least a positive tenor.

A positive step.....hopefully some VA legislator will address the shelter exemption down the road by striking it down.

Awesome, a move in the right direction even though we're leaving VA, so its a moot point for me! Now comes the work of getting Timmy Boy to sign it and then start tweaking it in the next session.
