Rasmussen poll confirms americans fear obama gun control agenda

I am surprised it is only 57%

    CCRKBA
BELLEVUE, WA – A new Rasmussen poll reveals that 57 percent of American citizens believe gun sales are up over the past several months because of widespread fears that the government will tighten restrictions on gun ownership.

“The poll results confirm what we’ve been saying,” noted Alan Gottlieb, chairman of the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms. “American citizens are fearful that the Obama administration and a Democrat-controlled Congress will pass new laws to further erode the individual right to own firearms. This concern was further enhanced by yesterday’s ruling in Minnesota that far left anti-gunner Al Franken should be seated as a U.S. Senator representing that state, giving Democrats a 60-member majority.”

The Rasmussen telephone survey found that only 23 percent of the respondents believe gun sales have risen due to concerns about rising crime. Twenty-one percent are not sure. The poll also revealed that 63 percent of male Americans and 51 percent of women believe gun sales are linked to concerns about new gun control schemes. Another finding is that 65 percent of Republicans and 66 percent of those not affiliated with either major political party think booming gun sales are connected to fears about increased government restrictions.

“Americans realize that despite all of the campaign rhetoric, Barack Obama and Congressional Democrats led by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi are waiting for the right moment to spring new gun control measures,” Gottlieb stated. “There is little doubt they would like to renew the ban on semiautomatic sport-utility rifles, place limits on the number of firearms someone may purchase, and maybe institute some kind of licensing and registration scheme, as Pelosi hinted during an appearance on ABC’s Good Morning America. Wherever these measures have been tried on the local level, they have invariably failed to prevent or reduce violent crime. The Clinton gun ban failed. One-gun-a-month schemes have failed.

“How many times do you have to fail at something before you reach the inescapable conclusion that your plan isn’t going to work,” he questioned. “The Rasmussen poll affirms that Americans are waking up to the Obama-Pelosi agenda, and they are stocking up for what they think is an inevitable attack on gun rights.”

The survey would mean more if it polled people who purchased guns and asked them why.

This survey only asked people why they believe sales are up. Therefor it included buyers, anti's, and everyone in between. Which only goes to show what the media has been spoon feeding them and not necessarily the truth behind the mindset of the people who actually went out and purchased.

When I go to Walmart looking for ammo, this is why there ammo shelves are empty. My local gun shop owner said "I can't keep guns on the shelves".

Take some pills and chill. "In fear of your government? "

If that is what worries you I would think you have been leading a charmed life.

A few months back you watched, "THE GANG." You are still here to talk about it.. No one hauled you off in the middle of the night.

Here are reasons why you don't have to fear your government:

    1) You don't live in Honduras
    2) You don't live in Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Myanmar
    3) You don't live in Tibet China
    4) You don't live in 'beat their bottoms with a rattan cane for chewing gum in public,' Singapore
    5) Your bank deposits are insured
    6) Your brokerage accounts are insured by companies owned by the government
7)Scalia, Thomas, Breyer, Stevens, are on the SC; Gilligan isn't.
    8) Congress is dysfunctional; they couldn't do anything bad if they wanted to
    9) FEMA is dysfunctional; it can't do anything right
    10) The FBI is tied in knots chasing "terroristic" plots hatched by low IQ fools in the basement of Miami and Chicago pizza parlors.

If anything, the present administration is rapidly proving that "change" is pretty dang hard to achieve. Nothing to worry about dear P. Just watch that front door, you never know. It might be that crazy neighbor is out on bond. Maybe he thinks he works for the government, and you believe him......

    Take some deep breaths please!!!!

It is July 4th weekend. How about a little patriotism instead of fearmondgering?

I do not fear my government, now.

I worry that if current trends continue I may have reason to fear in the future.

Perhaps that is what the poster above meant?

Oh that's right you can't because the government KILLED THEM!!!

I was at a gun show about a year ago, standing at a booth of an AR-15 manufacture. A middle aged guy walked up next to me and started a conversation that went like this...

GUY} These guys make a pretty good AR don't they.
ME} Yea they are among the top manufacturers.
GUY} Just what would you have to do to make one of these fully automatic?
ME} GET AWAY FROM ME YOU STUPID @*&!@*%#@; IF YOU AREN'T ATF YOUR THE STUPIDEST @%$*!%#$@ IN THE SHOW!!!!!

Guy leaves the building, goes out to the parking lot and I watch him as he gets in a dark blue Ford Crown Vic with tinted windows (civilian plates) and leaves. If that wasn't ATF setting me up for a conspiracy bust I'm Little Orphan Annie.

Yea; you have nothing to fear.

I just purchased my first AR 2 days ago. I am going to make a second AR purchase for my wife's gun (she wants one bad to mod herself) in a month or two.

We both are scared that the inevitable attempt to disarm our nation could lead to a second armed conflict domestically on our soil. No we are not promoting this and no I am not an extremist but history tells us to be very careful and prepare. I hope for the best but I will be damned if my family is not armed for the worst. When I served in the military my fellow brothers in arms and I were defending our soil against radical terrorism bent on our downfall. Now 2 years after I got out I am scared as a civilian we might have to defend our constitution internally this time around. God I pray not.

I wish the media would understand that our Constitution is for them and not just for Americans that are not the media. They seem to act as if it is some strange thing that applies to everyone but themselves. But as individuals I wish they would realize they are doing grave damage to our independence from govt..

It is no wonder why gun sales have been astronomically high. I bet most of everyone out there feels the same way.

It seems as if you attract these people when you really hover around Semi-Automatic Utility hunting rifles. I like that description someone else on this forum used!

I was asked something similar to this in San Diego a few years ago at Crossroads of the west gunshow at Del Mar fairgrounds. My answer was something like (and I cant remember correctly exactly).

"Unfortunately Sir it was legislated that the purchase and modification of a firearm that is or is to be fully automatic is not legal unless you are properly registered as a Class III firearms owner. If you would like to know where to obtain fully auto weapons and parts you must do as I did and serve in the military using their authorized weapons in line of duty. Other than that I hope that answers your questions sir? Please have a wonderful day and please keep it legal."

He nodded and walked off as if he knew I knew who he was.

    How about just:

Some times it really is innocently curious people asking a questions and not always ATF. But in keeping our image clean as gun owners and law abiding 2nd amendment cherishing Americans we need to always be vigilant and provide correct and legal answers.

Funny thing...the 1930's German people had the same 'silly fears', I wonder how that played out?

Some of our rights were taken away. Patriot Act for one thing. All they have to do is accuse you. Don't need proof. Sort of the Witch Hunt in Salem. No proof, just an accusation.

Yes, I am in fear. I think people will throw away their rights for the illusion of safety. Were not done with the terrorist yet, all it takes is another major attack. Doesn't even have to be as bad as 9/11

I dont think the Dems have the votes to real damage to gun owners.. They made that mistake when Gore ran for president..
