The issue isn't free speech. The issue is the disorderly conduct of some at these meetings. The issue is the difference between civil behavior and unruly disruptive behavior. The issue is the difference between constructive engagement with your representative and thuggish behavior.

I've watched the news footage of the worst of these incidents and there should have been arrests made for disorderly conduct.

Everyone has a right to attend a public meeting and try to ask a question. Starting a riot is something else. Shouting and drowning out the speaker is something else. Taking the podium and not letting anyone else get a word in is something else.

Thuggish behavior is what I am seeing, and it won't enhance the goals of those who engage in it. It just makes them look like fools. What is being done is extremely inappropriate, and anti-democratic.

Think Brown Shirts in the early 1930s Germany.

Yup, they are acting just like the Left did, just before they took over the Democratic party.

    Hmmm...

People are asking questions about socialized healthcare and they're considered to be unruly?

People want to know why our congressmen will be exempt from socialized healthcare and Nancy Pelosi calls them nazis.

We had to put up with the leftists conducting organized protests during the Bush years. It was called "freedom of speech".

And now that the silent majority is standing up and not being silent anymore, they are being arrested for being unruly?

    Give me a break.

It appears that the only ones who are allowed to protest are the left-wing loons.

The wheels have been set in motion. People's eyes are beginning to open up.

They've had enough of this insanity.

The leftists can't handle it when the silent majority voice their opinion. Their hypocricy is astounding.

It's time for the right to adopt Saul Alinksy's Rules for Radicals. Fight fire with fire.

I have attended three tea parties since April. I still have only one question: if the politicians refuse to LISTEN to their constituents WHAT is the next step ? Apparently the next step for Acorn, SEIU (and the WH) is violence and threats. But what is the next step for the powerless voter ?

I ask because no good will come of violence in this. As we march toward Socialism, violence will just play into the hands of the Left.

Everybody should bring video cameras. Capture the SEIU and ACORN thugs on camera.

Protest LOUDLY but peacefully and capture the thugs on camera if they hit somebody.

The man selling flags that got beat up -- all of this was captured on video.

    Don't be intimidated.

    Getting worried!!!

I have not attended a tea party yet. I wanted to see how things went. Some may call that "unwilling to stand up" or "being a follower, not a leader" you may call it whatever you want. I did not spend an entire career defending this country to stand by and let it go down the tubes!

My concerns and reasons for waiting are becoming very apparent.

I am not going into a potentially bad situation, unarmed!
I am not going to give the liberals the pleasure of using me as an example of "another armed paranoid nut case causing trouble."

I have every intention of being involved, but any good tactician will tell you "if you jump into a fight without knowing your opponents tactics, you will be on the defensive at best or beaten at worst."

I have now seen their tactics and it can be summed up in one word...SUBVERSION!!!

They... The leftist, socialist, liberals, whatever label you wish to use, intend to use any organized attempt to prevent their agenda from being realized as an example of "a bunch of armed right wing nut cases trying to take over the country by force."

Every meeting, speech, or public gathering will be viewed as a "klan rally."

Every democrat that disagrees with the party line will be viewed as a traitor.

I do not believe things are really going to degenerate into civil war or a coup. I still think this is the best political system in history and we have enough checks and balances to prevent disaster. I think we have a small number of people, to include some politicians, who think the time is right for a leftist take-over. In the long run it will fail. The upcoming elections will probably see another shift in power. Every day more people are getting fed up with the "ram it down their throats" attempts at change.

This is the United States of America. We vote!!!

The tea parties are an excellent example of what we are all about. Thoughtful, organized, peaceful ways to fix a situation before it gets out of hand. We need to keep them thoughtful, organized and peaceful. Every time we let a tea party get out of hand, it will be used against us in the media.

I will be going to the next one. When you go to one, remember, big brother is watching you.

So when you attend, assume that you have an idiot standing next to you who hoists his large American flag upside down and tells you that he is in distress -- AND -- the TV cameras then focus on you while you are wearing your military unit cap or the like -- what do you do?

    1. Tell him "Brother you are welcome to exercise your First Amendment rights in my presence with the camera on us."

    2. Run away to another location far removed from the camera.

    3. Render first aid to him to relieve him of his distress.

    4. Do something about it.

    5. Nothing, and eagerly await seeing yourself on TV that evening.

My informal non-scientific poll tells me -

    Air Force will choose #1
    Army will choose #4
    Navy will choose ??
    Marines -- don't even ask.

What we are seeing is frustration amongts voters.

The people that have been largely silent and thus ignored for years are waking up and they don't like what they see.

The politicians are so used to being worshiped by their followers that they aren't capable of understanding that things are out of control, and they are the reason.

They don't know how to speak to crowds because they haven't had to. They have spoke at them, doing pretty much whatever they dang well please, with no accountability whatsoever .

We have a President and an administration that is hostile to the country that elected them, and even those that voted for "change" are beginning to see the error of their ways. The whole process had been subverted by Socialists and anyone worth their salt will not stand idly by and let it happen without a fight.

Its always been said that there are three boxes.

    The soap box,
    the ballot box,
    and then the cartridge box.

If something is don't soon, this pent up anger and frustration is only going to get worse.

The hired goons that try to intimidate are only the tip of the iceberg.

The irony of it is, that this administration WANTS violence to take place because it will serve their purposes for even further subversion of our way of life.

I see no good in the future, its only going to get worse.
I would rather stand against the cannons of the wicked than against the prayers of the righteous.

I have been trying to post at Huffington Post... getting about 20% of my posts nuked. As you might guess, they love me over there... LOL

Here's one that got thru uncensored... on the Tampa town hall protest... everyone is talking about "Rethuglican mobs"... and how the conservatives lost, so now they get Glenn Beck to whip up an angry mob to drown out the voices of the people that voted for this...

"No arrests, no burning cars, no tear gas, no rocks thrown, no broken windows, no property damage, no tire fires, no riot gear...

    Nope, those definitely aren't liberals..."
    And another...

When you need a black man beat down for trying to make a living, don't go with a "mob" of senior citizens... it pays to go with the union card every time!

    Gotta love SEIU...!

They love me... really... I can tell...

Interesting how the right-wingers are acting just like the sheep they purport to abhor. Being led around into orchestrated disruptions. Of course, the goal of the groups promoting all of this is not to get real answers, but just to disrupt.

It goes to show how easily they're all led around by their noses when their only sources of news are Faux News and guys like Glen Beck and Rush Limbaugh, financed by lots and lots of corporate health care cash. It proves the old principle: If you can shut down the discussion, winning the argument is not necessary.

Added to the absurdity of the birthers and the teabaggers are the deathers, spouting the latest and most outrageous propagandistic lies regarding euthanasia and eugenics. It's not at all surprising that the same script seems to show up at each of these "organic" protests.

A sheep by any other name is still a sheep.

I agree the townhalls have gone too far in some cases. I hope someone reminds the people that their townhall is NOT Columbia University.
Maybe get some very probing questions prepared and have 1 person ask the questions so it doesn't turn into a free for all, but just a debate. My sense is, these congressmen and senators will NOT debate someone who has read the bill and asks the tough questions.

Step 1. Methodically ignore your constituents.
Step 2. When they express frustration over the vast and irreparable damage you've already done and then speak out against your next intended heinous betrayal, label them as an "unruly mob."
    Step 3. Continue ignoring them.
