And that is why we often see the statement: Gun contol is not about guns it is about contol. That is the ultimate reason we have a Second Amendment.

Of course one way to deal with the situation is to get people on the inside. A few people in the right positiions could exert significant influence.

The current administration is very dangerous to America’s freedom and financial security. Beck’s program is very enlightening and some of his research is hard to dismiss. IMHO of course ~

I'm sure there is a very good reason our dear leader needs his own private army, one that swears full faith to him alone, as opposed to those who have sworn to protect the Constitution from all enemies both foreign and domestic.

What horrifically sad examples of paranoia--the above posts. It really makes we wonder if some of you are sufficiently mentally fit to have been issued CHLs.

The way you guys drag stuff out of the context of the original speech, distort the the meaning, twist the intent, and express your fears is truly frightening.

"Civilian security force". What do you call the 40 or so Federal Agencies which have law enforcement authority? Why would you object to increasing some of these in size and scope if you were obeying the law?

Within the context of "Homeland Security" we perhaps (I don't think I really agree, but will grant a "perhaps") do need stronger and better armed civilian LEs given that there are limitations on the military use for civilian law enforcement.

The other day there was a news story in which a man stood up at a Town Hall meeting and proclaimed himself "a terrorist." The Critter conducting the meeting, instead of condemning him, applauded his "patriotism." If that is the future threat that we face as a nation, then O is right and we do need an adequate force capable of dealing with terrorists. Oh, and btw, many of you were perfectly willing to give the previous admin a pass on holding US citizens without trial, indefinitely--remember Jose Padilla, dragged from a courtroom to a Navy Brig, over the objections of the trial judge? And you are fearful of O? Where was your "fear" when GWB was trampling on The Constitution.

Again, the fear factor here amazes me. How can you fearful folk exercise anything like good judgment in a SD moment of crisis, when paranoid fear and utter fantasy rule your lives. How can you exercise good judgment when you show a willingness to believe the most outlandish of propagandistic lies?

    FLAME AWAY.

Why is it paranoia? Can someone not be concerned about something our leader said? Some have said that he was refering to the expansion of the Americorp or the Peace corps, if so, then why would you call them a civilian "security" force rather than a civilian service group or other term that doesn't sound like your meaning an armed force. and I don't agree that Federal LE qualifies as a civilian security force, the Fed's I have known refer to "us" as civilians, not themselves. As far as the previous admin, I agree, they did as much damage to our rights as is being done now, and I for one was against it then as I am now.

Ah, that is better, complete disageement with Hopyard; but, why the personal attacks on people with opposing views? Check your facts BHO did call for an additional para-military federal "police force" that should be funded as well as the military.

I'll say no more on the subject.

Hopy, not everyone who is a republican/conservative agrees with everything that happened during the Bush administration (tarp, patriot act, no child left behind, schip, lack of border security, etc).

Being paranoid is what allows you not have something hit you from behind and take you out.

Am I paranoid when I defensively drive?

Am I paranoid when I secure my immediate vicinity visually and audibly when I enter a new place I have never been before?

Am I paranoid that something "baaaaad" might happen that I need to carry a weapon? WOW what a concept?

Am I paranoid that when in deep recession people who have been looking for work for over 7months might get desperate for food and material goods and want mine?

Am I paranoid that politicians are going to try and take my "Right to keep and bear arms"? Nahhh they cant do or wont do that what am I worried about.

Last but not least does that mean Im paranoid when our president has surrounded himself in a bastion of brick and mortar radical loon self described communist, marxist, and socialist people? I guess I shouldn't be paranoid that history in fact DOES NOT repeat it's self ever. The Nazi religion never happened nor did the holocaust. A few million Jews simply got swine flu... yeah thats what happened.

No way that pretend made up Nazi stuff can happen here? Oh right .. our president's teleprompter said we need a "Civilian security force as equally powerful as our military and as well funded", but he didnt say that from his heart so im officially not worried.

Actually I beliee if you research this, you'll find that he went off script with this statement and truely spoke from the heart, not the teleprompter.

While it is true that a lot of conservatives were upset with Bush's policies, I don't ever recall any posts on DC.com that suggested it was time to water the liberty tree during his administration.

Because it is based on a fantasy, is an exaggerated fear, has nothing to do with reality.

He (Beck) had video of Fara-CON calling Obama the "messiah", that's just as scary as anything I heard. And yes, the followers of Fara-CON, are militant and have proven so time and time again. I am, however, not forseeing an immediate impending doom, and putting on my tin hat. Our country did slip and let him (Obama) get elected....mainly because of the uneducated, who voted for him because he was the "cool hip" choice, or simply because of his race. Yes, people white, black, yellow and purple did vote for him just because they thought it was "time we had a black president". I have talked to supporters of his from every walk of life and this is what they tell me. I do believe he can do way more damge than the previous administraion if not monitored extremely closely. Take it for what you will. If a "civilian security force" becomes a reality as it is being described and feared by right wingers, it will not be good. Take that to the bank.
