I hope my CHL isn't in trouble.

This has me a bit concerned for our current and future CHL laws, or out right able to carry a firearm @ all. Real concerned. It can happen...what ya think?

Not trying to get toooo political...just my hair raised on my neck about the possible FACT me losing the ability to carry concealed. OR the law being nerfed to the point that I can carry, just can't use it.

Democrats vow to turn Texas Blue

AUSTIN In their first meeting in the Lone Star State in more than three decades, national Democrats on Friday vowed to repaint red-state Texas in Democratic blue and assailed Republicans as obstructionists standing in the way of President Obama's economic recovery and health care initiatives.

"We're here to win, folks, we're here to win," proclaimed Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine, chairman of the Democratic National Committee, saying that the DNC is prepared to stand "side-by-side'' with Texas party leaders to lead Lone Star Democrats to victories in 2010 and 2012.

Kaine also blasted Republicans for opposing Obama's economic recovery program at a time when America is trying to pull itself out of the worst downturn since the Great Depression.

"Texas Gov. Rick Perry openly opposed it and even threatened to secede because of it," Kaine said, referring to Perry's much-publicized suggestions that some Texans might be in favor of seceding out of frustration with the federal government. Perry has opposed the president's stimulus plan but has repeatedly said that he does not advocate secession.

More than 500 DNC members and party officials are attending the three-day meeting, which marks the first time the party leaders have gathered in Texas since a meeting in San Antonio in the 1970s. The meeting winds up Saturday, with Republicans planning a demonstration at the State Capitol to tell Democrats to keep their "hands off" Texas.

But the message from Kaine and other speakers served notice that national Democrats firmly believe that Texas is becoming a competitive state after years of Republican domination. No Democrat has won statewide since 1994.

Kaine, who has helped lead a Democratic resurgence in his own state, called the Texas Democratic Party "one of the best organized in America," saying it has helped produce a "tremendous acceleration" of party strength across the state in recent years. The DNC's decision to meet in Texas, he said, reflects the national party's recognition that Texas has the potential to become a blue state.

"Texas can do it, and Texas will do it," he declared.

I'm putting my money on Texans and not "community agitators"...

I've met a few Texans... I married a hot-headed redhead from Houston... I think you are OK, 'Bones...

Hell, it would take a chunk of money I don't have to move from Missouri to Texas, but that is exactly what I've contemplated doing if things get too bad with Obama.

I've got some family in Texas, so I'd have a little bit of help!

As my wife just said, Texans have a better chance of running the Democrats out of Texas than the Democrats have of taking over Texas!

As far as I'm concerned, Texas is America's last stand!

I won't say it couldn't happen, but the odds of Texas going blue are about as good as OU and UT admitting the other school has a better team!

Even if by some chance the dem's got control of the legislature and governors office, I doubt they could muster enough votes in their own party to overturn CC laws. Even if they succeeded in overturning the laws now on the book they would face court battles as to the constitutionality of the new laws. If I'm not mistaken, the TX constitution still affirms the right to keep and bear arms.

Tim Kaine is a braying jackass. Texans aren't nearly stupid enough for him to 'change'. If anything, his little song and dance will strengthen the resolve of the people. A carpet-bagger is a carpet-bagger, even if he is from Virginia.

AMEN! Texas is the lifeboat. Just be sure to get your passport and Texas visa before Texas shows the nation how to secure a border.

The American people have gotton their first taste of the democratic party's brand of socialism and they don't like it. Government take overs of the auto industry, banks and health care are frightening everyone.
To say the Obama administration is spending OUR money like a bunch of drunken sailors, is an insult to drunken sailors.
His pandering to our enemies, Iran, Hugo Chavez, etc. shows he's nothing but another spineless Jimmy Carter more prone to groveling than to standing up for our interests.
To insist that America adopt a failed political philosophy that has been abandoned by nearly the whole world except China, Cuba, North Korea and Vietnam shows nothing but stupidity on the part of the democrats and it will bite them in the posterior in 2010.
Trust me, they will have a hard enough time hanging on to places like New York,
Massachusetts and Delaware. The inroads they made in the South and West will be lost. There is such wholesale disunity within their own party they can't get Obama's health care fiasco passed, even though it was supposed to pass in August. Obama has been exposed for the liar he is and no amount of speech making is going to change it.
This clown is just posturing and he knows it.

Soooo, where's the 2nd Amendment tie-in to this thread, other than the non-sequitur subject line preceding a Republican anti-Democrat rant?

Isn't there a political forum where this kind of stuff can find a home, instead of cluttering up the 2nd Amendment discussion section?

I figured somebody was going to bring this up (the "call out" card has been played)...I was hoping I didn't have to explain myself....If refers to the 2A by the the history of just about any other blue state majorly infringing on our 2A right or the ability for effective SD without HEAVY LEGAL drama...in Texas, if it's a good shoot...not so much fallout, as there is in other states (mainly blue)....so as I read that article, I felt that it could be possible heavy infringment IF Texas was to go blue.

Disingenuous. Your subject line is obviously a smokescreen for dropping in a political thread, since you didn't even mention the 2A in your actual post, nor any possible tie-in. Obviously, you don't know much about the vast majority of Texas Democrats, who strongly support 2A rights and concealed carry.

At least man up and admit it when you make a purely political thread, or are you lobbying for a CIL -- concealed intent license?

If you really don't see the threat to both the 2nd Amendment and our Concealed Carry right from this present Administration, you just don't know the history of this man and the far left of that Party.

Democrats....take back YOUR party from the far left Chicago thugs and and looney liberals. Republicans...take back YOUR party from the Country Club types and the mushie fence sitters. Time for smaller government and individual rights. Time for personal responsibility and not bail outs. Time to take the boots off the necks of American Rights and Freedom.
