    Maine Tardy Amendment falls

I don't know if everybody got the NRA-ILA news, but the Maine Legislature voted against the "Tardy Ammendment" which would have not only held law enforcement liable for damages to guns confiscated as a result of a protection order, AND would have held people responsible for filing a false protection order if it was filed in bad faith - how something as common sense as "Innocent until proven guilty" can lose by 1 vote in the legislature is beyond me.

Thats because most legislaters are clueless when it comes to dealing with anything in the real world.

One of the legislators said "when they take your guns its not some Nazi from Washington they get, its your local sherriff or chief of police."

I saw that Yoshi - and groaned to myself - hard to know what to say to such lack of good common sense.

NRA-ILA says it may have a second chance... Call your legislator!

Critical pro-gun legislation proposed by State Representative Josh Tardy (R-Newport) which failed by one vote in Augusta on Tuesday, is up for reconsideration today, April 13.

The "Tardy Amendment" would add vital provisions to LD 1938, "An Act To Protect Victims of Domestic Violence," correcting the problem of relinquished firearms from being damaged and sometimes never returned to the owner after a "bad faith" order is terminated.
