Anti-Gun NC Senator Soles, shoots intruder: MERGED
TABOR CITY, N.C. (AP) A sheriff says a North Carolina state senator shot one of two intruders at his home and hospital officials say the man is in fair condition.
Multiple media outlets reported that Columbus County Sheriff Chris Batten said that 74-year-old Sen. R.C. Soles of Tabor City shot Kyle Blackburn late Sunday afternoon.
A spokeswoman at Loris Community Hospital in South Carolina said Monday that Blackburn was in fair condition.
Batten says the shooting occurred when two men went to the senator's house and tried to kick in his front door. No charges have been filed.
The sheriff's office said the State Bureau of Investigation was handling the case. A call to an agency spokeswoman was not immediately returned. There was no answer at a number listed for Soles' home.
The Democrat has been in the Senate 32 years.

Good and bad.
Good. The intruder was taken out of the mix by a well armed home owner. Kudos for him.
Bad? Wonder what the Senator's stance on guns would be? Does he favor more restrictions for others but not including himself? Or, is he a pro 2A kind of guy?
I can see the lib media screaming "Crazed Gun Toting NC Senator Attacks and Shoots Downtrodden Individual!"
Or.....not so lib.....NC Senator Uses His Right to Defend Himself by Shooting Home Invader."
Just the opinion of this person posting.

That last statement in the article makes it appear to be politically motivated, so you have to wonder if the intruders were mis-guided Republicans.
Regardless, I'd say the bad is he missed and only wounded one of the intruders.

Good for him! Also glad to hear he is a Gun-Control Democrat.

The following is what I found, to the polar opposite of the above.
We should know better than to leap to conclusions and by unconfirmed information be so easy to throw rocks at given persons and politicians. That is the exact same technique and MO of the side we oppose.

Rather take a full minute or two to learn the facts, all of them, first before making any hasty judgments and by that conclusions and/or false analysis.
Unfortunately though as is common amongst media and Joe Blow blogs the one posting has been picked up and duplicated under the exact same title and by that premise across multiple blog sites. All reportinig incorrect information as related to his gun control position.

This gentleman who was victimized at his home is in fact one amongst and is of us, so says the NRA over the past 10 years!
At several of the other blogs it's reported he was given an A rating in 2004 by the NRA but they oddly do not report the totality of the information as dating forward and backward in whole.
As well blog commentators state that they were against his being endorsed by the NRA in 2004. But what about the years going back to 1998?! Are they unaware of as much? And if so, why? If not, then why are they ignoring that history and making no comment toward it?
Further if they feel the NRA can't pick'em right with Soles then who is to say, by their logic, that the NRA can pick anyone right...And as such why then pay any attention what so ever to the NRA's political picks or pans?!
A house of cards.

P.S. - It took me all of two minutes to locate his record as via the Project Vote Smart website.
The time consuming part was drafting and editing this post.

2 types of dems.
There 2 types of dems. 1 believes that no one but le and military should be allowed to have a gun. The other believes no one should have an AW but mil. and le.
Even though the guy is a Dem. I'm glad it went ok for him.
Especially as we get older, and realize we are not as fit and vigorous as we used to be, the need for a gun becomes obvious, or it should anyway.

Good post Janq. You should be a journalist. You demonstrated with two minutes of research, that the average journalist could use facts in the news, if they wanted.

Situation could have been worse if the Senator didnt have
a firearm. If he wasnt a Senator the story probably wouldnt
have even made the news since it was about someone using
a gun in self defense. Ignorant how the media usually only covers
the story when a gun is used for evil!
