Agreed. No need to put helmets and uniforms on them.

I thought the plan set forth by our Founding Fathers was for the people to take over if things got out of hand.

Newbie UN peacekeeper from Uraguay, after learning he is to be deployed to city in Texas, in a country with some 300 million guns...

Too funny! The VERACITY of your statement is not in doubt.

I'm in the US Military, and I wouldn't want to deploy to Texas to keep order or some other such directive. No thanks.

Now that is a perspective that is thought provoking!

The U.N. is not a real threat, even if it would happen. U.N. troops are basically window dressing, they are not capable of defending anybody (Google Uganda and Congo) much less occupy a country. The only troops they have that are worth anything is the French Foreign Legion and it is too small to be effective in a land as vast as ours.

    Negative, Sir.

"It's" is a contraction for "it is".

"its" is a possessive for a neuter subject, correlative to "his" and "hers", neither of which requires an apostrophe.

    Example:
"It's not its recoil that's bad, it's its crappy grip angle."

I don't see any controversy here about the U.N. We all seem to be in concurrence with each other, they suck.
