    Nightmare scenario indeed.

I don't believe it will happen, but, I'm watching closely.

LaPierre obviously has been sharing some of our nightmares! It is scary to contemplate.

So how many are content with just complaining and voting against her and how many are hot-footing to their local political organization and volunteering? (By the way, there is a more important election coming up soon. The Dems are so convinced that they'll take back the House that they're talking about a legislative blitz as soon as they do).

I don't WANT to get flamed but would this be bad? A GOP Presidency with a Dem controlled Congress EQUALS Gridlock! Not bad! Now, the GOP would lose their "control" and the "right" would ***** and moan BUT:

    IMHO:

Has the GOP lost their way? Tom DeLay indicted? How many others are going to be sucked into the Abramoff scandal? Do they deserve to be in office? They've been acting like neighborhood bullies now for a long time, and even thou I detest Hillary and THAT gang, I am quite sick of the GOP behavior as well.

I love gridlock! Beats the hell out of the far left force feeding crap down our throats, and beats the hell out of the right force feeding crap down our throats.

Neither do what is right for this country often enough - they are only doing what's right for their "party". I find it disgusting, appalling, and think we ought to fire them all after two terms (except Senators and Presidents, which can have two).

It almost doesn't matter who is in the White House. The states have made so many advances individually that the Dems will play hell getting any national laws invoked and enforced without violating the 10th Amendment and setting up a USSC battle where pro-gun conservatives finally have a decent say in the matter. EVEN IF they take over the Congress in 2006, Say both houses (very long shot--the incumbents are at risk from BOTH parties) the Republicans were in the minority for over forty years. They know how to play in that sandbox to keep the problem legislation to a minimum.

POTUS creates policy and makes appointments to represent this country's interest domestically and abroad.

He is the Commander-in-chief of the armed forces. He is the Attorney General's boss who is the chief law enforcement officer in this country. He is the boss over the directors of intelligence and covert operations agencies operating here and overseas.

He is the boss to the Secretary of the Treasury, who has control over the Internal Revenue Service.

Think of all the wacko, leftist, pinko, socialist and legislative Federal Judges appointed by Slick Willy. Never mind cabinet officers, diplomats and the massive bureaucracy he had control over.

It very much does matter who is in the White House......just as it matters who is in every other Federal and State office.

well, the so-called "conservatives" have no one to blame but themselves.

all you have to do is look at what they've done to fiscal restraint and the constitution.

everyday there's another story about spending, spying, indictments, scandals, etc.

I'm not sure there's much of a difference between Rep and Dem now adays. There is, however, a big difference in individual people. I really think we need to overlook the affiliated party and vote for a specific individual.

Of course I also think gridlock is best. Keep the self-serving tyrants for passing too many overly restrictive and intrusive laws.

I think the most important LONG TERM opportunity any POTUS might have is Supreme Court nominations - they have lifetime tenure, and no mandatory retirement!
