    Scott Brown wins in MA!

Wow, this is a real shocker to many folks. But this is great news for supporters of 2A! Brown is A-rated by NRA and GOA. And he won in Massachusetts, which is a hugely liberal state.

I know this is not a political forum, but this is such great news for 2A supporters, that we just HAVE TO acknowledge the victory.

    Congrats to Scott Brown!

He is pretty much totally surrounded by liberals but, hopefully he'll be able to stay strong on 2nd A issues.

"And he won in Massachusetts, which is a hugely liberal state."

Actually it's a strongly Registered Independent state with no shortage of additional PITA Libs.

Need more 2A supporters up there.

Maybe Nov. 2010 will provide many more.

Brown had much more going for him than his 2A background.
Not to recognize this too does hm no favors and short changes us all.

I personally voted for him not for the single subject item of his 2A position, and I did not vote for Coakley this time nor in the last toward her becoming AG because of her own 2A specific stance. Nor because of their specific party affiliation either.

These people have a wide range of views and positions as toward a wide array of problems and issues within this state, and the country overall.

In my own case I selected brown because though I do not agree with him by any means 100%, I did/do though as to a majority of his views and positions.
While with Coakley I entertained her too and she remained to be in the extreme minority as to items that I could agree or identify with as being right, good or best for the state and country at large.

My wife on the other hand last night I asked her what do you know about Coakley and her response was nothing at all except that she supports nationalized healthcare. She voted for Coakley and was all kinds of upset upon hearing of the concession speech.

Voting for a candidate just because they are 2A, or not doing so, makes as much sense and is as good for us all in the big picture as voting for or not voting for Coakley because of her single position on nationalized healthcare.

Single item votes and voters is how and why we wound up with the garbage we've had and do have in place now, in MA...never mind the US Congress.

Earlier today I was called personally by the principle of my daughters regional charter school and invited among a few other select parents to come to the school tomorrow to attend a site visit by the MA Charter School Office. I will be there to represent the school and speak on the experiences we've had, same as I was for a similar event last year in meeting our district rep...Who is pro-charter schools.
Coakley though is/was not a supporter of charter school programs of any sort while Brown has a record of being so and is supportive of their expansion as a means of inter-district and regional support against mainstream schools.
My wife has no idea about these facts of political view yet she voted for her single item view, as did much of the some 47% of the MA voter population which is a significant minority.

There is and was much more at stake than gun rights and/or healthcare, and always has been.

I would tend to agree, but 2A is a good starting point for me; if a candidate is pro 2A then likely most other positions will be in order as well. I will investigate further but pro 2A gets the benefit of the doubt.

This thread says it much better than I can....

Yes, yes, yes - but since this is a gun forum, then I chose to mention only the fact that he is an avid 2A supporter!

I agree, 2A is a plus, but usually leads you into the most forward logical thinking candidate whose intent is most times focused on their constituents

The debate between Socialism and Capitalism is only over because Capitalism was bound, gagged, and locked up in a deep, dark dungeon around about the time the Fed was established and income taxes started being levied. Capitalism didnít lose. Capitalism was never even allowed to show up for the debateóbecause if it had been, it would have won hands down. The best way for the Socialists to assure victory has always been to cheat.

Where I come from Scott Brown is not a pro-gunner. A pro-Second Amendment politician would not require a law abiding US citizen to have a license to possess a gun. Yep, on this issue Brown is less evil than Coakley-but he is evil.

    Scott Brown on Gun Control

Rep. Brown indicated he supports the following principles concerning gun issues:
Allow citizens to carry concealed guns.
Require manufacturers to provide child-safety locks on guns.
Require background checks on gun sales between private citizens at gun shows.
Require a license for gun possession.
