Starbucks Allows Open Carry, Brady Campaign Whines
Brady Campaign declares war on Starbucks; time for a cup of coffee
The Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence has declared war on a Northwest institution, and in the process perhaps the public will discover the extremes gun prohibitionists will go in an effort to push their radical agenda.
The Brady Bunch has Starbucks squarely in its crosshairs, hoping to browbeat the coffee giant into refusing service to an evidently growing clientele of law-abiding firearms owners. In an e-mail message sent out this week, Brady Campaign President Paul Helmke laments that, “Starbucks is refusing to prohibit open carrying in its stores, despite protests from loyal customers."

Law-abiding firearms owners, aren't supposed to drink coffee?
Uh oh, I'm in trouble

Are the customers who are carrying not loyal customers? Perhaps I open a store that wont serve you if you are not carrying, would that lead to a public outcry? I am sure it would, but that would be a different outcry, it would say I am discriminating against peoples right to not carry. I know I am preaching to the choir here, but perhaps after enough preaching to the choir I will get the nerve to speak to the masses.

While I'm glad to hear Starbucks allowing open carry, I'm quite confused. Don't they as a corporation fund anti-gun groups?
I'm confused? Anybody?

Hmmm. I didn't like starbucks before... but for some reason its growing on me.
In reaction, even more gun owners are declaring a sudden thirst for Starbucks blend and heading to their local coffee stand.

Helmke also argues that “Under the law, Starbucks has the right to adopt a gun-free policy, with an exception for uniformed police officers.”
Guess what, Paul. Starbucks also has the right as a business to allow patronage by anyone it damn well pleases, including legally-armed citizens. Their money is just as good as yours, and so far, there has not been a single reported incident involving any of these gun owners, including the robbery of a Starbucks while an armed citizen happens to be standing at the counter
This is perhaps the best part in the whole article!
Who cares if gun-fearing folk think Starbucks should cave in to their pitiful demands. Starbucks has the right to adopt any policy they wish. We, the LEGAL firearm-toting crowd have just as much right to do so and patronize any establishment that allows them to be armed.
If Brady's don't like it, then that's fine as well, but don't try to stop something legal in the first place.
Someone should give them some cheese with that whine!

Its amazing the misunderstanding of people thinking businesses have to adopt anti gun policy, its sickning. Who do we pat on the back for Starbuck's support? Email? Phone#?

Substitute "lunch counters" for Starbucks, "Blacks" for open carriers, and "Klan" for Brady and you'd have EXACTLY the same attitude.

Way to go Starbucks!
I don't drink coffee, the smell is absolutely sickening, and the taste is worse. However, I would love to support them by way of purchasing a delicious pastry, if they have them.

I for one don't drink coffee, and I have no love for Starbucks, but now I am feeling a warm place in my heart for them. I might stop by and buy a hot chocolate or something just so I can tell the manager to tell his boss that their policy to support OC is what brought me in and will continue to get my business.
I love how the Brady bunch enforces the freedom of businesses to refuse service to whomever they please, but get upset when they enjoy that same freedom to continue to serve paying customers. Is it just me, or do the liberals and progressives seem to always have double standards(no, it's not just me) Aren't they supposedly the "tolerant" ones (according to them)?

I never liked Starbucks until I OCed into one not too long ago and had no problems and was actually "welcomed" and not eyed like an alien.
