Thumbs up VA: Restaurant ban repeal has PASSED

    More from a VA-ALERT.

    YES!!!!! A clean sweep!

SB 334, Senator Hanger's restaurant ban repeal has PASSED the House
UNCHANGED by 72 to 27! (Delegate Morrissey wasted everyone's time on
the floor asking inane questions about the bill until they got fed up).

SB 408, Senator Vogel's bill to allow non-CHP holders to have a loaded
handgun in a locked container or compartment in their motor vehicle or
boat PASSED UNCHANGED by 74 to 25!

SB 3, Senator Smith's bill to allow CHP holders to renew their permit
through the mail passed UNCHANGED by 81 to 18!

I will list the votes of the House members on SB 334 in a future alert.

The above bills will now need to be signed by the Speaker of the House
and the Lt. Governor and then they will head to Governor McDonnell's
desk for signing. That could take up to a week or so.

We are standing at the edge of the end zone, football in hand, with
the nearest opponent 100 yards behind us. All that needs happen now
is for the football to break the plane of end zone...

Just saw it. Now all we have to do is buy the folks on the "Special" subcommittee a few rounds of common sense at the local pub.

This wasn't the Senate "Special" subcommittee.

This was the whole House passing the Senate version -- with out change, which keeps it from going back to the Senate where the "Special" subcommittee might get their hands on it.

IMHO -- there was another version that was better -- it would put all concealed carry (except LEOs on duty) on the same bases. However, given the games being played, this is good enough -- at less for now. CHP holders will still be second class citizens, in the off duty LEOs, Commonwealth Attorneys, etc, etc. will be able to carry AND drink, whereas we won't. Oh well.

No chance of influencing them. These are hoplophobes. Their fear is irrational and unreasoned. Their belief is also cultish. They are going to ignore the will of the people, and put their personal philosophies and opinions ahead of the Commonwealth, by denying a full vote in Courts of Justice or in the Senate. Until Marsh is removed, this will be his tactic moving forward, and passed gun laws from the Delegates will be killed by a handful of anti-gun Senators from Fairfax.

It totally ticks me off that Fairfax hoplophobes will determine gun laws for the entire State.

    At least we got these.

Outstanding. When this is signed into law, I'm gonna start supporting the work VCDL does.

I'd like to thank VCDL members on the board for their contributions to the organization, time, and hard work. Y'all have fought through so much garbage the last few years, and finally made headway. When I thought all these bills were 100%, they threw yet another curve ball of cowardice, and what I consider to be a crime against the Commonwealth. Despite the setback, once again, I know you will be back to battlestations again and at the front of the fight. Keep up the good work!

I'm just thrilled with the fact I'll be able to go out to dinner with my wife and kids without having to disarm. NOBODY needs to drink while carrying - that's a ridiculous combination and I for one will never support making that legal for CHP holders.

The VCDL does great work - I appreciate the hard work and support you provide. I can't say I agree with everything just as I don't with the NRA, but I appreciate it nonetheless.

Keep up the good work and thank you!
