Just another example of the federal government not doing what the people want. When a state has to create a law that circumvents the federal government you know things are getting bad. Good for you SD.

So, Soth Dakota, Utah. Montana & Tennessee have also passed something like this, right?

I believe Oklahoma backed down after threats from some part of the federal government concerning unrelated funding.

As for my state, I believe MI has something in the works, but I don't know if it will pass.

Here is a state by state look at the issue.

    http://firearmsfreedomact.com/state-by-state/

    SD not included.

I believe the cause will be lost at the SCOTUS level. Right now, with the state legislative doing the work, it is a state's right's issue. It would be interesting to see a vote at the ballot at the state level (not just legislative action).

Why that would be interesting to be is how the SCOTUS could rule against citizens, who don't want the protection of the ICA for an item, because the have voted at the ballot that it hinders a BOR issue (2A).

To something that is pure voter's will would require more then an Act, and should require an amendment to have fed trump state.

I'm not stating I beliee the Feds should be able to trump the various state legislative Firearms Freedom Acts, only that I don't believe it will hold if and when SCOTUS reviews. If is a state act vs a fed act.

If people vote against the protection of an act, the courts can't later interpret the will of the people, as the vote does that. In addition, there is not some individual right that is being protected by the ICA, in contrast the FFA has a legitimate 2A core. If it were a ballot vote, I think it would have better legs.

Of course the Feds don't agree with this. Sucks to be on their side when your stupid and wrong. Hopefully more states get on board.
