Some thoughts on recent posts.
The better slide hold-back was available before the recall. They offered to replace it for me without cost, but I decided to let them send me one for free and replaced it myself. I am a novice at working on guns. I've seldom done more than field strip, clean and lube. I found it fairly easy to do.
There were several items dealt with in the recall process. From memory they include.- Replacing the hammer block.
- Adding a roll pin to stiffen the mag release. They now replace the plastic mag release with a metalic one.
- Mill the are that was showing peening on some units.
- Refind the barrel throat to make it less suseptable to out of spec ammo.
- Replace slide hold-back.
Ruger instituted a recall based on 3 reported AD from falls on a hard surface out of approximately 60,000 units sold at the time of the recall.
Those who denegrate Ruger for instituting a recall should know that several industry experts have said that there are several manufactures that should have had a recall but did not. I don't know if the P3AT was one of those.
Mine was reliable before being recall processed.
It was reliable after my novice work to replace the slide hold-back.
It is reliable after the recall process.
Lastly, there is considerable uninformed opinion expressed in this thread.
