If those gun slingers considered unintentional fischarges a "none issue" why would they carry the hammer down on an empty chamber on those colt SAA types?
Let's neither overestimate the risks nor underestimate the risks. At the time of the recall there were 3 reported ADs do to dropping on a hard surface. Without going into how problematic it is to establish the veracity of the reporting the cause of an AD, some other perspectives should be considered. At the time more than 60,000 units were in distribution and given the scarcity of these guns, most would have already been in customer's hands. Drop tests are part of the qualification testing before production of any handgun and some states require it. The issue is not lack of a drop test, but from how high and with what force and at what angle.

Ruger established a voluntary recall. I am told by respected industry insiders that they know of far more potentially dangerous flaws that did not result in a recall by the manufacturers. They may, or may not quietly change the design. Ruger is to be applauded for being proactive and offering incentives to owners to participate.

What is a fischarge?
