I have opened carried (OWB) a few times using an on the hip Uncle Mike's sidekick holster when in the (mid) Northern (but not upper) part of MI. Normally I was out in the woods (I always carry out in woods) and went to lunch, maybe dinner, or filled up the truck / jeep with gas.
So maybe once or twice a year I open carry for in an extended period in a town. As a CCW holder you get into a possible bind of brandishing when you open carry. I have not confirmed this, but what a LE customer told me. However that LE is from SE MI, where open carry happens very very rarely.

MI
has no open carry law. It does not have any law saying it is legal or illegal to OC. Not being a jerk just making sure you know the facts. you can't tell a cop to look up the OC law that doesn't exist. Since it is not illegal you are able to OC.
Not to be rude but asking a cop about the law is not the best thing to do.
Can you provide any case where somebody that was OC'ing had an issue with a brandishing charge?
Mike Coxx would be the man to ask. Send your question to his office,
then keep the responce. The Attorney General is the one to ask about laws.
