After some more thought on this, i came up with another great book for an anti-gunner to read; I was digging through some of my old stuff from high school and came across a book I used to do a report on back in 1978 whilst arguing my point for gun ownership.
The book - Mila 18
The book is based on the true story of Polish Jews who were imprisoned in the Warsaw Ghetto during WWII, and how they stood up to the most brutal SS troops of the war all because they were armed. Yes, many died but at least they died fighting for their lives, and took quite a few Nazi murderers with them; a stark contrast to the other Jews who meekly boarded trains to places like Auschwitz and Treblinka and were slaughtered.
