Call S&W - Refer them to this thread in DefensiveCarry to view your pictures. That way they can see first hand that there are about 30,000 DC forum members curious to see if and how they resolve the issue.
Regarding S&W ~ They normally have extremely good customer service so be polite when you call even though you are probably obviously and understandably upset.
Don't mess with the firearm now as for all intent and purposes there is nothing you can do to save it and their technical people will likely want to see it exactly as is.
Glad that you were not hurt.
Reminder for you newbie shooters...Always wear eye protection! Now you can see why.
It's one thing to lose a firearm. It's another whole different thing to lose an eye.
