I am obsessed with a clean gun, especially my daily carry. The best time to clean a gun is while the barrel is still warm. Much easier and it is clean and ready to go.

I have let me guns sit before and it is just too hard to get the barrel clean. When I was in the CB's after we shot, we had to make multiple trips to the armory to clean our M16s until nothing elase came out, most of the time we would clean clean clean and come back the next day and do it all over again.

A clean gun is a lifesaver! Is your life not worth a half hour to an hour after you shoot? I credit my Gunny for giving me this mindset. I have been given guns that my father had and I have had to clean ea. one. Sometimes it was a hang fire or a miss feed, but I didn't want either of those when hunting, so I take everything down as best I can and clean, clean, clean!!!
