The Montana Highway Patrol has a Task Force that conducts compliance checks at various locations around the State. They always announce the checks to the media in advance, but they never divulge the location.
A check was conducted in my county yesterday. Troopers stopped every sixth vehicle (83 total) and issued 36 citations and warnings.
Highway compliance checks have been ruled constitutional by the Montana Supreme Court.
I've never been caught in one, but I wouldn't care if I was. My registration, insurance and DL are current, so I don't worry about it.
