Dave, thanks for posting. In my Sunday School class Sunday I said something that came back to mind later and has now popped up again. In Acts 25 when Paul was under arrest in Caesarea Festus wanting to appease the Jews asked Paul if he would go to Jerusalem. Paul's response says a lot about how we are to live. Paul appealed to Caesar. If we are to do nothing to help ourselves Paul would have just sat there and let Festus send him to Jerusalem to die. Paul knew that he would not survive in Jerusalem, so he exercised his only option and appealed to a higher court.

This is not the only time he did such. He was let down from the wall in a basket. He allowed the centurion to escort him from Jerusalem. He did everything that was allowed under Roman law and God's law to preserve himself. He knew that if it was God's will for him to die he would, but since he did not know what God's will was he continued to pursue any options that were available. This from the man who said, "For me to live is Christ and to die is gain." His idea was to continue working for Christ's kingdom until God called him home.

God bless.
