1911 shoulder holster question

This is more of a gnereal question about the carry technique than anything else, a good shoulder holster isn't really in the works for me right now, and I'm not gonna buy a cheap nylone one. Someone here will have an answer that I am just missing right now. Anyways, I carry my 1911A1 cocked and locked, like it should be done. My question is this, with a 1911 in a horizontal shoulder holster, how does the thumb break keep the weapon in place, since the hammer is back? or does it have to be carried with the hammer down ( a general no-no since that would be down on a empty chamber or full one, neither a good idea.) I dunno, just something that I thought of while lookin through the forums. I'm sure somone will have an answer to this that will fill in the blanks in my mind. Thanks for the input.
