Colt Cobra

Here's my latest acquisition, a Colt Cobra .38 Special, made in 1963, in mint condition. It has no blemishes or scratches, only a very faint turn line on the cylinder, and no holster wear. The finish on the grip frame is not worn, which indicates it has been handled very little. The lock-up is bank vault tight, typical of Colt wheelguns. The fit between the crane & frame is barely visible. I paid $425.00 for it.

If I had to guess, I'd say it has been fired no more than one cylinder full. I wouldn't be surprised to learn that this gun has been squirreled away in a nightstand or sock drawer for the last 40 some years.

Stay tuned for a forthcoming range report. (I buy guns to shoot, not to collect). Before the range, tho, I'll have to do a complete teardown and lube job.

The retro holster is a Chic Gaylord design called the Super Sleuth, from Bell Charter Oak Holsters. Gaylord was a pioneer concealed carry holster maker back in the day.(I ordered the holster about 6 weeks ago, while the gun was still in layaway). The ammo is Federal 158 grain LSWC, standard pressure. No +P ammo for this snake!
