Angry Review: Armed Response by David Kenik

# Paperback: 192 pages
# Publisher: Merril Press; Com edition (May 2005)
# Language: English
# ISBN-10: 0936783451
# ISBN-13: 978-0936783451

Well, I know it has great reviews on Amazon, but I didn't like this book.

The Author seems condescending at times and I just don't like his writing style. He's very verbose and I took nothing new away from this book.

At times, I felt like I was reading a post by someone on a web forum.

He can go on for paragraphs stating the same thing over and over.

To be honest, I started to skip pages. At first I thought maybe I'd miss something so I went back and read what I skipped.

I then concluded that it was OK to skip many pages.

<shrug>

It's not that it's BAD info. I've just read *all* of the information contained in the book previously. Also, as mentioned- I did not care for the writing and editing of this book.

Felt like a fluffed up magazine piece.

I suppose it could be very good if you are totally new to firearms and CCW.

There are better options in my opinion, however. Andy Stanford's book is very concise by contrast to Armed Response.

There were MANY sentences that got on my nerves. Here is an example from page 64...

"Choosing an Auto
So you promise to learn about proper usage, find the right ammunition, clean it, and practice as discussed in the previous chapter and you are ready to move on to a semi-auto?"

Yes, Daddy! Please pwease! Can I have a cookie too???

There were 4 or 5...billion of those sorts of passages in this book.

Another went along the lines of, "You got your gun and now you need to pick out the right caliber for your gun."

He also seemed to have a chip on his shoulder at times.

To be honest, I hated this book.

EDIT-TO BE FAIR: We aren't the audience for this book. A total newb would find this a wealth of info. There's nothing new for in it if you are a member here methinks.
