Seriously, guys - HIDE SOME GUNS if you're that worried about it. Or die for nothing and prove that we ARE a bunch of cop killing lunatics...whatever.
I hear & understand everything you are saying in all your above posts, and I in no way want to shoot anyone, ever. However, I draw a distinction between "staying alive" and "living my life". If I comply with a request to disarm, I may ensure my survival, at least for a little while until either those who haven't complied, or a corrupt / tyrannical government decides they wish to harm me in some way. But I have given up the ability to "live my life". For me, the trade off is not worth it. I hold human life to be precious because of the wonderful things a free man with a free mind can do. Simply ensuring my continued existence is of pretty low priority if I no longer believe I can be a "free man with a free mind".

As far as my potential actions reflecting on other gun owners - hopefully it is clear from my posts that, in the situation described, I really couldn't care less what anyone else thinks. Either I maintain my means of self-defense and continue to live free, or I don't. There may be secondary consequences to other gun owners, and if they are negative, well that would sure suck. But in that moment, "others" are none of my concern.

Finally, hiding some guns is an excellent idea. Reading this thread made me realize that that is by far the best way to deal with this possibility, presuming I'm not being asked to hand over the guns I've hidden! I actually started a thread of my own asking which guns to hide - I'd love to hear your opinions on the subject: http://www.defensivecarry.com/vbulle...your-life.html

And of course, I'd love to hear everyone else's too...
