Well, let's be clear - I have spent two years of my life actually fighting for our rights as Americans against armed enemies of our way of life. I am willing to die for our way of life, and I've put my money where my mouth is. I am NOT, however, willing to die (or kill a countryman) for a temporary infringement on those rights. I will circumvent that infringement as best I can, but at the end of the day I will not kill an American (or leave those that depend on me alone) if I believe that that my rights will be reinstated, and that the entire nation is not falling into something that no longer resembles the one I swore to defend.
There are key words here - temporary and localized. If, in some bad dystopian pulp fiction novel, the US were to federalize the Guard and go door to door locking up all gun owners and destroying all guns, well, then, you'd better believe that OPFOR would be causing some trouble, and he'd be very good at it...but that's not the case we're talking about here.
What we're talking about here is a natural disaster, a localized breakdown in civil order, an idiot mayor and his idiot police chief. I will neither kill nor die because a city official is dumb, period. I may have to go to plan B, I WILL call my lawyer when it's all over, but that's it. No one is going home in a box because of a stupid mayor in OPFOR's household.
We can talk about Red Dawn if you want, and then I might have some different answers, but in another Katrina situation I know where I stand.
