I carry my Taurus 605 in my Smartcarry and don't have any problems with it snagging.
I've tried it drawing different ways and the only time it is difficult to draw is when I'm not wearing pants (or I am wearing sweats). I think the pants provide enough friction to hold the Smartcarry in place when I draw.
I carry a .380 in my Smartcarry for work and it does draw better (when not wearing pants). Maybe you need to place the butt of the pistol under your waist band. That way you have the wasit band to catch the holster when you draw.
