I hear you M&P, I'm not a fan of 1911's either. I also don't really care much for Glocks.

For me, it's just the way they feel in my hand, and the safeties on some of them. Sure, I can shoot them, heck, it's fun to shoot anything.

But as far as reliability is concerned, I think it has a lot to do with the fact that so many different manufacturers make a 1911 style gun. You have your great ones, your good ones, and your not so good ones. If you spend a bit more and pick a decent brand, I'm sure you'll be quite happy with it.

Having so many manufacturers making 1911's is a good thing too, because you have tons of stuff you can get for them.
