A freind of mine had a Dan Wesson that he bought cheap. It was the .357 with a six inch vented heavy barrel. He fired it and he too complained about the excessive amount of blow back. Since the barrel was adjustable, who ever had it before him adjusted it and apparently didnt know what they were doing. They left about a .030 cylinder gap. That thing had as big a fireball coming out the side as it did the barrel.

Since I already had one, and had the barrel adjustment tool and the .002 feeler guage that you use to set the gap, I simply unscrewed the barrel and reset it. It made a major difference and he thanked me a hundred times.

Three years later he sold it for less of a price than he paid...to me. I still have it. I bought that gun for 150 bucks and have won several matches with it. It is still one of my most accurate revolvers.
HotGuns sorry it took so long to respond, lost track of the thread. I did everything I could to the Dan Wesson, even had a gunsmith attempt to seat the barrel. Nothing worked and finally got tired of my hand getting peppered. Just one of the unlucky ones I guess.
