Drinking is an invitation, a social act. It makes brothers of strangers, and not infrequently, spontaneous enemies. Unless I am in my home, I avoid alcohol and arms like a bubonic plague/anthrax mixer.
Rule of thumb: if you have a drink in hand, someone will interpret it as "talk to me." It may be good talk, it may be bad talk. They may not like your answer. Why make the invitation?
