Stag wholly builds the S&W ar pattern rifles , and builds a lot of components you find in other top name rifles . While i wont tell you " Dont do it " I will say that i wouldnt at that price . An oly would have to be down around 5 bills to get my attention .

SA no longer builds the S&W AR's and has not for some time. You are correct though when you say that CMT (SA) sells parts to many different companies. A lot of these companies reject CMT parts and send them back. CMT then sells them to companies that do not have as high of QC standards.
The reason why S&W pulled their guns from SA (and stopped buying their parts) is that they were having a lot of issues.
For quality AR's, I would only look at LMT, Colt Noveske Rifleworks, ADS, Charles Daly (yes CD) and BCM.
