This is my first quote so take it with a grain of salt. Nothing will expand in a .38. I feel accuracy is paramount and do not want to go through the house next door. You only want to hit your target. 3 accurate shots are better than one +P any day. That leaves +P out for me in any caliber. I carry lead flat nose SWC in my light weight .38 if not carrying my .45 commander. You can talk all you want about speed, energy and power. That does not take into account a slower flat nose's immediate on the spot energy transfer in real world. Shoot a cat with 22 hollow points. Better have a box handy. No sound of a hit. Shoot it with a lead flat point ( I have a jig and file, but there is SGB by CCI but it is not as flat as I like ) You hear the loud smack (neat) and it drops.
