Seems folks are more worried about liability, than they are staying alive.
I have numerous weapons, but my bedside table gun is a Ruger Super Redhawk, 9.5" barrel, Meprolight night sights and Beamshot Greenbeam 2000 laser. It used to be an M9A1 w/Insight Technologies M6X laser/light combo, with 20 rounds of Corbon PowR'Ball ammo, setin' inside Mec-Gar AFC mags, and one in the spout...
Why'd I change? The Hornady 225gr FTX rounds from the 9.5" barrel will be going faster than 1500fps, and short of a bad tempered grizzly, should do the trick on whomever is stupid enough to come in without an invite... Add to that, the bullet goes from .429 diameter to nearly .90 caliber.
Guess Ol' Elmer Keith said it best, something like this, "The bigger the hole, goin' in and out, the more blood comes out." He was right. No point in just aggrivatin' the *******... Those little 9mms just don't have the "punch," that a big boy has...
Forget takin' the time to double or triple tap. Wyatt Earp said, "Make haste, slowly." That means, acquire, identify, engage, repeat, until all the threats are removed... Do it, and the double/triple tap ain't necessary... If it takes more than six rounds of .44 Remington Magnum, you'd best have a spare HKS speed loader or two handy... Just in case, don't ya know?
Side's if'n it comes down to it, they'll need the sponge, mop, and squeegee detail, and forensics folks for DNA and dental IDs... These new FTXs are real widow makers...
Have a nice weekend...
