I have been happy with my M&P15A. LMT has a good reputation.
Not having the funds for your dream AR now. Getting a good base rifle, and building as funds permit. You may pay more in the long run but you will at least have a good rifle now just in case it hits the fan in 08.
If you like railed hand guards you should check out
JP's modular hanguard. I have one on my AR-10, and like it. Plus it cost less than the typical rail hand guard.
