My opinion on the TDI, Karambit or any other specialized blade type is that everyone's training time is limited and I don't have the time or interest in learning to use a specialized blade type/shape. To me a knife, is knife is a knife.
I have spent very little time with the TDI and I guess I can see it for uniformed officers. But for plain clothes officers and citizens who are likely to have their tools concealed, deploying the TDI or other fixed blade from the waistband means having to clear a concealment garment as you do on your strong side. Just not my cup of tea. I cannot get into a knife with it's own manual of arms.
